Marcia Tewell, mixed media

Marcia Tewell at the Blue Moose Art Gallery

Marcia was first inspired by found object assemblages at an exhibit at the Philly Art Museum by figures made in West Africa.  She took up making figures in the little free time she had outside of work and now retired, can spend hours in the studio with a wide range of objects.  She finds many objects from her weaving friends in New England and uses old shuttles, bobbins, and other wooden objects with unique textiles for creating and transforming the figures.

“There is a crack in everything.  That’s how the light gets in.”  Leonard Cohen
