Join local watercolor and collage artist Vicki McCargar for today’s pop up shop. Her lovable renderings of man’s best friend and other delightful animals have endeared her to our customers for a while now. Vicki has resisted teaching here at the gallery due to her already full life, but today ONLY you can join Vicki for a drop in class and create a watercolor greeting card with her (pre-registration is required). Cost: Donation of one or more cans of food for the Food Bank to help those in need in our community. Bring 3 or more cans of food and be entered into a drawing to win an original piece of art or a 4-pack of her precious greeting cards!
VICKI McCARGAR BIOGRAPHY
Vicki McCargar has developed her artist’s eye over many years of thoughtful and creative perspective. Along the way in her Artist’s Journey, she took an extended vacation from her art, focusing on her career as a Registered Nurse, raising her children, tending her garden and cultivating her love of all living things. At the dawn of her fiftieth year, Vicki returned to her childhood love: drawing and painting. A few trips to the art supply, a quiet takeover of the spare bedroom and- voila! - the studio became the center of Vicki’s life once again. She hasn’t looked back since then.
Vicki’s original cards have spurred a small online greeting card company, StellaJaneCards™, named in honor of her sisters who inspired her to return to the studio. Vicki’s history as a caretaker draws her into the soul of her subjects, a talent born of patience, acceptance and compassion. These core creative skills bring her closer to her subjects and closer to those who find her work so appealing. The natural world, especially animals, is her chosen subject.
Vicki’s preferred medium is watercolor, and she has recently found an outlet through her creation of fanciful collages from recycled paper. Collage has become yet another way for Vicki to express her love of living things through color and texture.
Vicki lives in Northern Colorado, an environment rich in beauty, extraordinary wildlife and outstanding landscapes. She ventures afield frequently in search of subjects, creative opportunities and the luxury of time spent observing the vast diversity that surrounds us.
